October is Mental Health Awareness Month, with World Mental Health Day recognised globally on 10 October. This year’s theme is ‘Mental health is a universal human right.’ It’s a powerful reminder that wellbeing should be accessible to everyone.

At Highview, this message reflects one of our own Guiding Principles: ‘Life is First. Work is Next’. Supporting the health of our team is not just something we talk about — it’s part of the way we do business. We know that when our people feel supported in life, they can bring their best selves to work. That’s why we take opportunities like Mental Health Awareness Month to highlight wellbeing and create space for our team to connect and recharge.

This month, we asked some of our leaders to share what they do for their mental health. From exercise routines to mindful activities, their stories show that there are many different ways to prioritise wellbeing.

Across our offices, we added a little feel-good factor to the month with some wellbeing activities. Our Prahran team stepped into the studio for a group Reformer Pilates session, complete with plenty of wobbly legs and shared laughs. Meanwhile, our Cranbourne crew enjoyed some well-deserved pampering with an on-site  massages, proving that self-care can be as simple as taking ten minutes to unwind.

World Mental Health Day encourages everyone to take simple but meaningful steps in their own lives. Some ways to do this include:
• Reaching out and connecting with someone you trust
• Starting conversations that reduce the stigma around mental health
• Checking in on friends, family or colleagues who may be struggling
• Taking time to rest, recharge and build habits that support your wellbeing

By getting involved in Mental Health Awareness Month and supporting World Mental Health Day, we’re creating space for open conversations, encouraging healthy practices, and reinforcing our commitment to putting people first.
