Thousand Faces Camp 2022 – ran by REACH.

“I couldn’t recommend this camp highly enough to anyone willing to get out of their comfort zone & go on a journey of self-discovery.” said Jake.

This is the second year we’ve encouraged our team members to attend the Thousand Faces Camp ran by REACH. An experience of personal development that aims to transform the way you approach life & relationships, while giving back & supporting the next generation of young Australian leaders.

From 4th – 6th of March 2022, three Highview team members were given a chance ‘to shake things up’ & make a positive impact on the lives of young people. Our Accountants Jake, Carly & Melanie together were encouraged by Highview to attend the REACH Thousand Faces Camp. At Thousand Faces Camp, a safe space is created for 13-17 year old youths to chat, connect, build friendships, challenge assumptions & think about things in a different way – & to have fun! Jake, Carly & Melanie were given the opportunity to volunteer their time to mentor & connect with youths, helping these young Australians through a facilitated program to begin realising their potential. By enabling three of our team members to attend, in turn, we funded three young Australian’s to attend this life changing experience.

Jake relays his experience, “It was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life & hearing some of the things the young people on the camp had gone through really shows what privileged lives most of us live. It was amazing the trust that was built up between everyone in just over 2 days. This allowed everyone to be vulnerable & allowed every person in the room to reflect on the stories of others. It was incredible how many people were able to relate to each other & talk their issues through & support one another. I couldn’t recommend the camp highly enough to anyone willing to get out of their comfort zone & go on a journey of self-discovery.”

“The camp was an unforgettable experience & had a profound impact on my emotional spectrum. The feelings of joy, sadness, pride, regret, grief, determination & anger were intense & came & went in rapid succession.

My two main takeaways were:
1. Strength of character presents itself in many forms &;
2. At some point along the journey of life we need to learn to ‘back ourselves’ & draw on strength which our past adversaries have armed us with.

A highlight for me was when my paired young person overcame her debilitating shyness & presented her story to the group. It took many gentle nudges over the course of the weekend but by the time she took the stage, she was ready. I was so proud to see her achievement. If you ever get the opportunity to be a part of the REACH Thousand Faces Camp, grab the bull by the horns tightly (metaphorically speaking) because it’s one hell of an emotional ride.” said Carly.

Melanie too, could not speak more highly of her experience, “I would say that the REACH Thousand Faces Camp was an incredibly eye-opening & emotional experience that pushed you completely out of your comfort zone. By providing an open, judgement-free environment, the team at REACH encouraged you to view your life in a completely different way & as a result I have gained a new outlook. Everyone should participate in the REACH Thousand Faces Camp if they can, as they will only benefit from it.” She said.

Jake, Carly & Mel sum it up pretty clearly – GET TO THE NEXT CAMP!

Highview will be encouraging team members each year to attend this camp. The personal development benefits are just so overwhelmingly positive. For our business to offer this to our team & at the same time we get to financially support young people to be able to attend, it’s a no brainer for Highview & lines up with our core values as a business.
